Antique Maple Side Table
Antique Maple side table with the most incredible tiger maple grain. This unique antique maple side table has a very unusual tripod base. The tiger maple wood continues on the top, drawer and legs of this table. Of course, it would make a charming and beautiful accent in any historic or traditional home!
A tiger maple end table like this one was made in circa 1820. Obviously, we can witness early craftsmanship on this antique side table. The drawers have very fine dovetailed joints. If we turn the antique maple side table around, we can also see that the back has dovetailed joints! Not only are these marks of craftsmanship, they are beautiful as well!
The stripes of the tiger maple wood on this antique table has a very vivid pattern and nice golden color. Of course, much of the brilliance of this tiger maple is owed to our restoration team. Previously, the top of this antique table had a dark and crackled finish. Indeed, we didn’t even know this table had a tiger maple top! By sanding the old finish, our team found an unexpected gem!
This antique occasional table has an incredible tripod base as well. It really does have a unique style. The legs are not Queen Anne style. Rather, they have sort of a spiral shape. We see this kind of playfulness in New England antiques of this era, and especially in Vermont antiques. We purchased this table from an estate sale in Harrisburg, however it makes sense that it might come from Vermont or Massachusetts. This particular estate had collected items from Gettysburg and Boston.
