Bohemians Antiques sold a set of four lovely Baker furniture Chippendale Style Mahogany Chairs for about $1200 in the summer of 2020. This was a fair price for these types of chairs considering the condition of the frames and upholstery fabric.
However, there are many sellers out there who would only consider letting go of a Baker Dining Chair for $400 a piece or more.
Baker Chippendale Chairs Charleston Collection
These fancy Baker Chairs likely were made as part of the Historic Charleston Collection by Baker. Of course, they had a beautiful traditional style, with lots of carving and beautiful blue damask fabric.
The Historic Charleston Collection is one of the most well known collections by Baker Furniture. It has been truly long-lasting, having been in production for several decades since 1947. In fact, you can still purchase the Baker Charleston Collection today!
This can help collectors and buyers really see the value in purchasing gently used Baker Furniture. Obviously, these pieces retail for quite a bit more money than you are likely to pay at an antique store or used furniture store.
The specs on these chairs were the following:
Item: Vintage Baker Furniture Mahogany Chippendale Chairs, Set of Four.
Age & Condition: Circa 1980-1990. Good Vintage Condition with minor signs of wear. (You may find light wear to the frames.) Some light spots on the upholstery as noted in the photos.
Dimensions: 26″ wide (arm to arm) x 20″ deep x 39″ tall. Seat Height is about 18.5″ tall.
Baker Dining Chairs
Baker Mahogany Chippendale Chairs (Set of Four) with lovely blue seats. This beautiful set of Chippendale Style Chairs reflect Baker Furniture‘s extraordinary quality and design.
The chairs feature a complex carved back-splat. Of course, they also have an incredible carved leg with ball and claw feet.
The upholstery fabric does show a bit of wear. (Some light spots, as noted in the photos.) However, overall the chairs are in very good vintage condition. You may see very light mars to the frames but they still show beautifully.
One can also see that the chairs were all four arm chairs, making them great for a round table, or simply as accent chairs around a room!
