Felt Top Desk.

Condition: Very good condition. Felt has been replaced. One piece of carving has been chipped.

Description

Beautiful Victorian mahogany Davenport or Shipmaster’s Desk. This sweet little desk has drawers on both sides and lift top writing surface. It has beautiful carved filigree on either side and a brass gallery on top.

This 19th Century Mahogany Davenport Desk has a beautiful Birds Eye Maple interior. This style of desk owes its name to Captain Davenport who was the first to commission the design from the Gillows of Lancaster: a quality furniture firm of London in the late 1700’s.

Our Victorian version has beautiful scroll work, drawers on either side, a small telescope drawer and beautiful panel back. The felt has been replaced and there is a small corner of damage to the filigree on one side. Dimensions: 25″ wide x 24″ deep x 35″ tall
