Vintage Buffet

Vintage Buffet made by high end furniture company Kittinger. This vintage buffet has beautiful detail and is of excellent quality. It features four central bowed drawers, flanked by cabinet doors within a bowed shape.

Kittinger Buffet

This Kittinger Buffet has a rich history. The Kittinger Furniture Company found its home in Buffalo, New York. From the late 1800’s, this fine furniture company crafted incredible reproduction pieces. From the 1960’s onward, Kittinger Furniture reached high esteem, after being chosen to replicate furniture pieces for the White House. To this day, prestigious Kittinger furniture decorates the White House, Library of Congress and other embassies and fine offices around the globe.

This particular buffet demonstrates all of the key elements that made Kittinger famous. Foremost, the material chosen for the vintage buffet is prime mahogany. Of course, people value mahogany furniture for its beautiful grain and strength. Again, this Kittinger buffet is made of no chintzy material. By lifting the piece, one feels the density of the woods chosen. Of course, the beautiful rich color and grain pattern on the buffet highlights the fine woods, another obvious reason for mahogany.

In addition, the classic design of the vintage buffet speaks to Kittinger’s use of historical pieces as reference in their furniture. The bowed shape of the buffet dates to the Federal Period. Often, antique buffets of this period had a deep bow to allow better serving space and allow storage below. Bow front buffets also are an impressive feat for craftsmen. Thus, a bowed buffet often meant a hefty price tag.

Furthermore, the delicate inlay work on each of the drawers highlights the Kittinger difference. Craftsmen meticulously measure, cut and fit alternating wood veneers within the drawer and cabinet door surfaces. This technique requires lots of skill and precision. The result? A beautiful vintage buffet such as this one with beautiful color variety and pattern.

Refinished Kittinger Buffet
