Age & Condition: Circa 1960-1970. Good overall condition. However, the frame has an old repair. Please see photos.

Vintage Federal Style Mirror

What is a vintage Federal style mirror worth? Bohemians fin3e furniture store sold this old mirror for about $285 in late December of 2022.

Beautiful Vintage Federal Style Mirror with handpainted frieze and lovely carvings. This nice vintage mirror has so many beautiful details.

Of course, the mirror features a hand painted glass panel above the glass. In fact, these types of paintings go by the name “reverse painting” or eglomise for the French term. In other words, artists paint the image in reverse on a plate of glass.

In this particular mirror, a structure with a turret sits on a small piece of land surrounded by water. Two paintings of trees flank the image. Also, there is a nice painted border as well.

Eglomise Style Mirror

Additionally, this Eglomise style mirror has a beautiful wooden frame. Of course, it has carved columns on either side and a nice top molding.

Unfortunately, the frame shows an old repair. However, the repair is not really that noticeable, except when viewing the mirror from above or in profile. Please see photos.

Despite this repair, the mirror has a great look and shows nicely.
