Antique Settee, Gothic Style Sofa

Item: Antique Sofa Frame, Carved Gothic Sofa.

Age & Condition: Circa 1880. Tightened, restored, ready for upholstery (we have the original springs).

Dimensions: 68.5″ wide x 31″ deep x 54.5″ tall. Seat Height is probably roughly 17″ tall.

Antique Settee

Beautiful Antique settee with incredible carved detail. This amazing Gothic Style Settee is ready for your upholstery choice, with a beautiful restored frame.

Of course, this antique settee has a three section back with incredible carved panels. Each panel features carved rosettes and swags. Additionally, it has a crest like shape on the top, flanked by two mythological creatures. Certainly, these hippographs (half eagle, half horse) have a very cool look and design!

Gothic Style Sofa

This beautiful gothic style sofa has incredible detail and shows great quality in the solid oak frame. However, we still decided to refinish and tighten up the frame, so that it can have another 100 plus years of use. We added a few braces of new wood (not visible after upholstery). Additionally, we have the original springs for the seat.

Unfortunately, there one section shows an old repair. This is slightly visible from the front, and more visible on the back side. Please see photos.

We do have a name of a local upholstery shop (Smithsburg, MD) if you would like us to handle the details for you. Also, we can assist with fabric selection. Most likely we need 12 yards of fabric.
