Age & Condition: Circa 1890. Craquelure and darkening to the painting surface. Darkening to the frame. Small chip to the top of the frame. Please see photos.

Antique Oil Painting Featuring Moonlight on the River Bank. This lovely oil painting has a very nice composition and lovely detail. The painting depicts a small boat on the shore of a river, a grouping of trees and a beautiful crescent moon.

The oil painting does show a signature but it is quite illegible. It appears that the painting has quite a bit of age, as the surface shows craquelure and appears to have darkened with age. Also, the back of the canvas shows more signs of age… The frame features wooden corner blocks. Old nails also hold the frame to the canvas. We believe the painting to be from the late 19th century.

Framed in a gilded frame which suits the painting quite nicely. It too, has aged a bit and shows some darkening. There is a small chip to the top of the frame. Please see photos.
