Antique Marble Clock with Garniture Set
This striking 19th-century French garniture set features a monumental black marble mantel clock paired with two matching multi-arm candelabras, all showcasing the elegance and opulence of the late Empire and early Napoleon III aesthetic.
The clock is crafted from solid black marble with stepped architectural lines and ornate gilt bronze mounts. Of course, its dial displays classic Roman numerals framed in a detailed gilt bezel. Additionally, each side of the clock body features a French Empire–style portrait medallion. This is an exquisite decorative detail rarely found on comparable pieces. A turned marble and bronze urn crowns the top, adding impressive vertical presence.
The matching candelabras mirror the clock’s form with black marble bases, baluster-shaped central columns, and finely cast bronze arms extending outward in elaborate tiers. These pieces balance the composition perfectly and create a dramatic centerpiece for a mantel, sideboard, or formal room.
French Clock Set
We had the interior works of this clock restored by the Northside Clock Shop in Hagerstown, MD. The clock runs well and keeps good time. It has a beautiful bell sound that chimes on the half hour and hour.
