Beals Maple Chest on Chest

Beals Maple Chest on Chest with beautiful brass hardware. This lovely and solid wood dresser has great functionality and quality. Made by Portland, Maine Furniture Company, Beals, in circa 1970, this beautiful dresser has stood the test of time.

The chest of drawers features three small drawers on top, over three larger drawers, followed by two deeper drawers on the bottom. The classic design gives lots of room for organization. There is even one (removable) drawer divider inside one drawer!

The chest is crafted of New England Rock maple and has great weight and strength. All of the drawers feature dovetailed joinery. Also, wooden dust covers line each drawer underneath. The drawers run on all solid wood runners, which when waxed will always function very nicely.

This chest on chest is in great vintage condition. However there is a small split on the side of the case. Please see photos. I don’t believe that this compromises the integrity of the chest, and I don’t think it will get worse. We see this most often on very hard maple furniture of this era, and it sometimes happens because of humidity and temperature changes inside the home.
