Antique Oak Bowed Glass Cabinet
This lovely antique cabinet features bowed glass on the front and side panels. Of course, this type of glass can rarely be produced today! Certainly, it gives so much character to the piece.
Inside, there are four shelves (likely ash wood) with two grooves for plate display. The antique oak cabinet sits on ball and claw legs in the front. Also, it has two columns on either side that really give the piece an extra dimension.
Of course, the beauty of the cabinet also lies in the top pediment, which is intricately carved with the “Northwind Face.” This motif was popular in late 1800s furniture and represents the winter season. (Some also say, they were used to ward off evil spirits.)
This antique oak bowed glass cabinet is in original finish.
It shows well. However, there are a few torn pieces to the back panel. Please see photos.
