Victorian Secretary Desk
This Victorian Secretary desk has a handsome and subdued look. While Gothic Revival and French historicism often played a role in late 19th century design, this desk is decidedly plain. Of course, this lack of ornamentation allows the desk to have an impressive look without being ostentatious. Also, it allows the beautiful grain of the walnut to show through.
The desk comes in two pieces. The top section features two large cabinet doors which conceal shelves and three smaller drawers.
The desk surface has plenty of surface area. Additionally, it has verticle file storage on one side and drawers on the other.
Finally, the desk has paneled sides, making it a pretty piece to look at from three angles.
Antique Desk
We refinished the desk in order to restore the beautiful wood. Additionally, we had to replace the lock (which was sadly broken) and added a magnetic catch to the left door.
