Antique Tavern Table
This antique tavern table has an early base. The base features two drawers and a tall apron. Additionally, it has straight tapered legs with spoon feet.
While the base of this antique Tavern table is definitely early, the top was replaced at some point. There are two dowels on each end that hold the table top to the base, which in the old days made it easier to move.
We refinished this antique tavern table in order to restore the lovely wood. The base still has a nice patina.
In Colonial times, a tavern table was used primarily as a serving table in a dining room. This one could be used in the same fashion. It could also work as a desk or dining table, but the apron does sit a bit low for most dining chairs.
