Antique Federal Secretary Desk
This nice antique Federal secretary desk has a beautiful bowed front base with four drawers. The top drawer actually reveals a desk surface that flips forward. Of course, the secretary desk also has a beautiful display area for books or knick-knacks, with lovely mullions in the glass doors. Finally, the secretary desk has a lovely brass eagle and finials the decorate the top of the desk.
This desk shows good condition, but does have a few flaws. On the surface between the desk and bookshelf, there are a few blemishes, including a light ring and a small finish blemish. Also, it is missing the metal keyhole (escutcheon). Please see photos.
Despite these small flaws, the cabinet shows well and has a beautiful look.
Inside one of the drawers, there is a small medal plaque that says the desk was made in Michigan by Colonial Furniture Company.
